The small-size works, with spherical, ovoid and cylindrical elements placed in unusual relations, exhibited by ceramist Lucretia Milea at the Galateea Galleries in Bucharest present her as an artist boasting a rigorous sense of geometry.
In a realm where invention and innovation continue to be nearly heroical undertakings, the author stands out through her expressive uniqueness. An undisputed professionalism marked by fertile imagination is visible in her entire approach. The prevailing ambiental function, in keeping with all modern searches is evidenced by a clear predilection for sculptural structures apt to fit in a certain space. Lined up according to formal criteria, her works represent volumetric symmetries, games of light and shade, expressive touches. White, sometimes tinged with brown, is the sovereign colour and creates a bracing effect of serene luminosity. Lucretia Milea avoids affectation unhesitatingly; she expresses herself freely and accurately in an attempt to establish the harmony of
lines springing from the ingenious exploitation of the materials. Her originality does not reside in complication and excess, but in the elimination of insignificant details, in the search for essences, aimed at creating an artistically expressive universe. The exhibits also reveal a feeling of tactility created by her skilful glazing, her use of colours and the calm subtlety of the structures.
Lucretia Milea's exhibition is a real joy for anyone's eyes.
